The principal inspiration of Dasha Rybina<\/b> and Alexander Votsmush<\/b> is drawn from landscapes, from the countries where they have lived or that they have visited.<\/p>\n

Alexander Votsmush is a renowned watercolorist, laureate of the International Watercolor Painting Biennale in Shenzhen (silver medal). He is a member of the Voluntary Association of Artists of the International Art Foundation and a member of the nonprofit International Federation of Artists, UNESCO. He has also taken part in Sotheby\u2019s auctions. In his paintings, the artist portrays irony and the absurd, as well as humor and whimsy.<\/p>\n

Through her paintings, drawings, and works, Dasha Rybina reveals a unique sense of color and light. Influenced by the aesthetic world, Dasha\u2019s painting develops a vision that is at once descriptive, symbolic, and imaginary.<\/p>\n

A creative sojourn at an art residency in the South of France by the artists Alexander Votsmush and Dasha Rybina resulted in the exhibition \u201cSummer Holidays\u201d.<\/p>\n

Alexander Votsmush is an outstanding watercolorist of distinctive style, known not only for his recognizable landscapes but also for his magnificent, ironic characters. In his watercolors the very essence of human and natural character comes alive; the artist conveys beauty, a living humor, and temperament in the finest of details. Votsmush masterfully embodies the depth of emotion, the particularities of figure and of movement in his characters. His images draw the viewer\u2019s gaze by their sincerity.<\/p>\n

For Dasha Rybina, making art is experiment and emotion, work upon a static image, and action expressed through performance. The artist\u2019s signature technique is based on the \u201cblurring\u201d of the image. Areas of the canvas, flooded with black pigment, are washed away by a powerful surge of water and reveal the picture. What is born is an association with an old photograph, with something the viewer has already experienced, with the imprints of memory. In the South of France, Dasha Rybina also created southern landscapes in turquoise, green, pink, and lavender hues.<\/p>\n
