The number of participants is limited.<\/b><\/p>\n

Works addressing politics, the epidemiological situation, or depicting nudity will not be accepted for the exhibition.<\/b><\/p>\n

An initial impression of an artwork does not always coincide with the artist\u2019s true creative statement. On closer inspection, details often emerge that deliberately seek to deceive the eye, creating unexpected visual forms, combinations, and meanings. Artists have sought to surprise and disconcert viewers since the very dawn of art. They have experimented with different types of perspective, blended genres, manipulated the perception of space, broken the \u201cfourth wall,\u201d and created a convincing illusion of three-dimensional space within a flat picture plane.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\n

\u201cIn Kvartira S\u2019s new group project, we propose bringing together unexpected variations of materials and meanings, images, interpretations, and techniques in order to uncover the tricks and illusions of the contemporary artistic process. The exhibition will explore how art can mislead viewers by distorting habitual modes of perception. Through art, we invite visitors to reconsider their understanding of the boundaries of reality and to see the world from a new perspective,\u201d says exhibition curator Daria Kapustina.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Artists are invited to apply whose creative practice is rooted in working with optical effects and phenomena, who create unexpected, paradoxical compositional combinations, and who open the door to their distinctive visual worlds.<\/p>\n

Illusion, imitation, substitution, exaggeration, superimposition, intersection, deformation, and other artistic devices are envisioned as the principal protagonists of this project.\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n
