Following the results of the Open Call held in the winter of 2024\u20132025, Kvartira S Gallery, in collaboration with the ARTPLAY Design Center, presents Third Place, a group exhibition of contemporary artists.<\/p>\n

What does a \u201cThird Place\u201d mean to us? The space between home and work, a beloved avenue in a neighborhood park, one\u2019s native village a hundred kilometers from the city, or perhaps a quiet library filled with the scent of old books. When we want to rest, to escape our thoughts and problems, we do not think of a particular place but of the feelings we experience there\u2014a place where we regain our strength, dream, breathe deeply, and share joyful moments with those we love.\u00a0
Can paintings convey this state of mind? What places now exist only in our memory, where do we long to return, and what lies on the boundary between the personal and the collective?\u00a0<\/p>\n

For Kvartira S\u2019s new project, contemporary artists were invited to reflect on \u201calternative\u201d spaces and the role they play in people\u2019s lives.\u00a0<\/span> You will encounter a wide range of interpretations, diverse combinations of materials and techniques, and the participants\u2019 distinctive visual worlds.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe way the artists have portrayed the \u2018Third Place\u2019 is impressive. Before submissions opened, it seemed <\/i>that greater attention would be devoted to physical spaces, but the final selection <\/i>reveals a clear tendency and a need for tranquility, inner dialogue, warm <\/i>memories, and a desire for deeper self-discovery. The works are touching, vivid, <\/i>at times deeply personal and mysterious,\u201d says Alexandra Kachalina.<\/i><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
