Her paintings seem to tell stories in foreign languages: scored with asymmetrical polygons like mosaics or layered pastries, with a "psychedelically" bright palette and a composition that draws you inward. Marina’s works recall the architectural fantasies of the Austrian master Friedensreich Hundertwasser.

This is enthusiasm, a thirst for travel, a singular style, and an unusual concept.

I am madly in love with travel — walking a great deal, looking, listening, and feeling. It is there that I find inspiration, ideas, and subjects for my work. These are deserted cityscapes with architectural character, carefully considered composition, and a transformed reality.

Through decorative painting I manage to convey mood and color that capture the atmosphere of cities and countries. Small villages in cozy bays, snow-capped mountain peaks, the soft light of winter, and the cold, pristine beauty of Scandinavian landscapes on canvas and paper.

For graphic works the technique is gel pen, which allows me to refine detail and convey realism, and pastel, which adds color and airiness, making the pieces more enigmatic. When I paint in oil I pour out my emotions, using the palette of my soul.

Creating each work is for me a kind of ritual and magic that unfolds between me and the piece.

https://kvartiras.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/IMG_1824.TRIM_1.mp4

Marina Bogomazova’s solo exhibition "Where the Wind Blows" runs from June 13 to 30, 2018, at Artplay, Moscow, Nizhnyaya Syromyatnicheskaya 10, 3A, "Laboratory" hall.

Gallery artist Marina Bogomazova cannot imagine herself without two things: painting and travel.
