On October 2, a lecture by Bella Korotkina, art historian at the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts, titled “French Art of the Eighteenth Century: ‘A Theatre of Pleasures,’” took place.
In the eighteenth century, the sensuous love that possessed the hearts of Parisians spilled over into the visual arts and gave rise to a new style—Rococo. At this lecture we will learn how the emergence of the “new taste” shaped the painterly tradition, attitudes toward living space and its décor, and what role the celebrated Marquise de Pompadour and the theatre played in it all.
At the vernissage, guests were treated to a tasting and interactive program by master chocolatier Dave Manger.
Dave works on the border between art and magic. He came to Russia in 1998 to study Orthodoxy and the “Russian soul.” But the country and his Russian wife inspired him to create inimitable signature desserts. His confection filled with dark chocolate flavored with white jasmine tea won a prestigious pastry competition in Paris. Today Mr. Manger is the owner of the company Theobroma, which produces the freshest truffles and citrus peel in dark chocolate.
At the vernissage an interactive program with a tasting was held by Russia’s first wine academician and sommelier, Tatyana Selivanova. We talked about French wines, tried our hand as wine experts, and simply enjoyed pleasant conversation in good company.
In August we announced a competition for literary works inspired by paintings and photographs by the artists of Kvartira S Gallery. Some of the works can be read on our website in the Blog section.
At the vernissage, literary readings took place! Invited actors, media figures, art lovers, and even some staff of Kvartira S Gallery read several works for the event’s guests. And, of course, every poem and story was illustrated by real paintings!
