The subjects of the paintings in Marina Bogomazova’s solo exhibition “Where the Wind Blows” were brought back from her many travels: they include urban scenes, uninhabited landscapes, and the artist’s architectural observations.
The artistic value of Marina’s work lies in its meticulously conceived compositions, finely balanced use of colour, and compelling geometry. Her paintings are also imbued with optimism and beautifully convey the atmosphere of the cities and countries they depict. The artist’s hand is instantly recognisable in her technique.
Marina Bogomazova is fascinated by the category of space; through painting, she seeks to understand it, to establish a relationship with it, and not let it slip away without being appreciated. “Where does the wind blow?” is the question that preoccupies the artist. Each of us loves to travel, and Marina’s paintings evoke memories of long roads and distant lands.

“I am passionately fond of travelling, of walking, looking, listening, and feeling, and it is precisely in this that I find inspiration, ideas, and subjects for my work. These are deserted urban landscapes with distinctive architectural features, carefully considered compositions, and a transformed reality. Through decorative painting, I am able to convey a mood and a palette that capture the atmosphere of cities and countries. These are tiny villages nestled in tranquil bays, snow-capped mountains, soft winter light, and the cold, pristine beauty of Scandinavian landscapes on canvas and paper. My graphic works are executed with gel pen, which allows me to render details and achieve realism, and pastel, which lends colour and airiness, making the works more mysterious. When I paint in oils, I pour out my emotions, using the palette of my soul. For me, the creation of every work is a kind of ritual and magic that unfolds between the work and me.”
