The project seeks to introduce viewers to the work of Moscow-based artists Nadezhda Belova, Anna Sezik, and Veronika Leonova. The exhibition became a point of creative concentration and inspiration for three artists who, at first glance, appear very different. Yet they are united by a shared pursuit of inner freedom and self-expression; through their works, the artists reflect on freedom of choice, strength of spirit, the unique path of every woman, and the search for one’s authentic self and place in the art world.
Sasha Rishar: “In this exhibition, we have brought together artists who, at first glance, seem very different. Each has her own techniques and methods of working with color, form, and space. Yet they are all united by the theme of femininity and the search for their own center of gravity, their place of power. The exhibition presents works through which the artists express their feelings and thoughts; they are simple yet enigmatic, contemplative yet intellectual.”
About the artists:
Nadezhda Belova is a professional artist and graduate of the Stroganov Moscow State Academy of Design and Applied Arts who has participated in numerous exhibitions in Russia and abroad. Nadezhda combines several approaches and techniques in her practice, while her style always remains distinctive. “I paint using a unique technique of my own. I work sincerely in abstraction because I believe that the world is abstract and therefore born of imagination.”
Anna Sezik is a member of the Professional Union of Artists of Russia and has actively participated in Russian and international exhibitions since 2018. Anna works with figurative thought, drawing on geometric forms and abstraction. “I work with acrylic because it is close to me ‘in temperament’—I need to convey my emotions onto the canvas quickly and confidently. I love experimenting with color and texture; through them, I capture the emotions, feelings, and inner state of a particular moment on canvas.”
Veronika Leonova has maintained an active creative practice since 2010, after graduating from the Illustration program at the British Higher School of Art and Design. She has participated in group exhibitions throughout Russia, and her works are held in collections in Russia and abroad. The female figure occupies a central place in the artist’s practice, which explores the objectification of women and their search for a place in the art world.
