Following the Open Call held in the winter of 2022, Kvartira S Gallery presents Point of View, a group exhibition of works by contemporary artists.
What a person discerns in the outside world determines their point of view. A point of view might be described as a window through which we see, albeit one that reveals only a certain range of phenomena. We can consciously narrow this window—our point of view—disregarding certain phenomena so that they do not distract us from what we wish to focus on. Or, conversely, we can broaden the range of phenomena considered simultaneously, right up to the limits of our capabilities—limits that are always present, yet can be expanded as we develop.

Everyone has found themselves, at least once, in a situation where their point of view differed from the opinions of those around them. Their particular vantage point gave them a perspective that diverged in one way or another from that of other observers. Differences in points of view have always helped us to analyse an event or phenomenon more thoroughly, avoid subjective and biased judgements, and arrive at the best solution.
For the Open Call, we invited artists to submit works reflecting their distinctive vision of the objects, events, or phenomena around them.

“The artist’s point of view, like any other, is grounded in sensory experience. To gather so varied an exhibition devoted to the point of view is like looking into a kaleidoscope: there are many ways to see or to contemplate, and each image has a beauty of its own. Every view is beautiful; it simply depends on how you choose to see it. As the saying goes, beauty is in the eye of the beholder,” — exhibition curator Sasha Richard.
