From April 18 to June 22, 2025, at Hostellerie La Farandole, artists Françoise Castellino and Valérie Leydet present the theme “Blurred Horizons.”

“Blurred Horizons” invites viewers to explore the unseen and lose themselves in this liminal space, where boundaries dissolve and water merges with air. In this exhibition, Françoise Castellino and Valérie Leydet open the doors to two distinct worlds, where abstraction becomes the language of the sea, space, and air.

Françoise Castellino is a self-taught artist who works in her studio in the South of France, in the heart of the Var region. Inspired by seascapes and the flowing lines of nature, she has developed an intuitive painting style expressed through a rich palette—a quest for the infinite and the unseen.

Valérie Leydet, in turn, creates art objects from thread and fabric. Her installations, at once light and formally intricate, explore the relationship between emptiness and fullness. They enter into dialogue with Castellino’s paintings, poetically giving material form to the stories told on the canvases.

The works on view seek not to reproduce reality, but to transform it. This is poetic abstraction, in which clear lines give way to a play of irregular forms, colors, and textures. Both artists invite viewers to cross the threshold between the visible and the invisible and experience a state beyond time and space.
