Following the Open Call held in February and March 2021, Kvartira S Gallery, in collaboration with the Artplay Design Center, presents the group painting exhibition “The Best Offer.”
The Open Call received more than a hundred submissions from contemporary Russian and international artists. Emerging and established artists presented paintings united by the ambiguous and intensely subjective criterion of being “the best.” This is precisely why the exhibition is so heterogeneous, diverse, and highly concentrated.
The exhibition welcomes a broad audience of visitors with a genuine passion for art, from serious collectors to those purchasing their first original work. You will be able to immerse yourself in the artists’ inner worlds and join them in reflecting on the category of “the best”—the most subjective category in the world.
Sasha Rishar: “The principal selection criterion was the artists’ explanation of why the submitted works were the best they had ever created. The project explored how widely people’s ideas of what should be considered ‘the best’ may differ. The question becomes even more complex when it concerns the results of one’s own work.”
