The new exhibition “Around Color” brings together the work of three artists: Natalia Karpukhina, Elena Nechepurenko, and Yakov Khomich.

The artistic inquiry of the featured artists is devoted to the meaning of color and its role in constructing the pictorial image of a painting. In the artists’ works, color is experienced not only visually, but also psychologically and symbolically — echoes of Surrealism and Cubism can be traced. In the end we see vivid and lush, fantastical and immediate works.

What distinguishes the work of Natalia, Elena, and Yakov is intense color, firmly outlined forms, and meticulously executed detail. Thanks to this, the exhibition gives the viewer a positive charge of energy, one directly connected with the spring awakening of the world, new plans, bold ideas, and, of course, the surge of strength needed to bring everything conceived into being.

The artists have managed to keep within themselves the children-discoverers who sincerely marvel at everything they see around them, and this naïve wonder, passed through the prism of mastery, talent, and imagination, they have embodied in their works.

About the artists:

Yakov Khomich

Winner of the all-Russian competition “Young Talents of Russia” in the Fine Arts category. In his works, Yakov depicts only what he has seen with his own eyes. His childhood travels through exotic countries left a strong impression on him, echoes of which can be traced in the color solutions on his canvases.

Natalia Karpukhina

Paintings executed in various techniques in a recognizable authorial manner are united by the theme of the influence of the inner and outer worlds on the female personality, while the works are filled with bright sunny colors and a playful mood.
