What is atmosphere? It is not only the air we breathe, but also a mood, an impression, a vibration. In the works of Katerina Goryacheva, atmosphere becomes both the central theme and the primary medium.
The exhibition “The Atmosphere Within” is arranged as a gradual immersion: from dense and intense works to cool and detached ones, and onward to those that are transparent, almost intangible. It is a journey from loudness to silence, from the external to the internal, from the unfamiliar to the deeply personal. “The Atmosphere Within” is an invitation into a liminal state between landscape and dream, between the physics of the planet and the metaphysics of memory.
In the space beneath the glass roof, where light filters through the architecture and dissolves into the air, Katerina Goryacheva’s painting resonates with particular subtlety. The artist works in acrylic, building her paintings through layers and transparency, drips, cracks, and incidental lines. All the works share a distinct atmospheric quality: air, light, dust, and mist become not the context but the very substance of the painting. Katerina Goryacheva creates canvases in which the viewer does not so much “look at” the space as “breathe it in.”
About the artist:
Born in Noginsk, Moscow Region. She lives and works in Moscow. She studied art, its history, and artistic techniques independently. The year 2023 may be regarded as a turning point between the search for her artistic identity and her embrace of abstraction as a personal medium of creative expression. She has participated in exhibitions, including the contemporary artists’ exhibition “Third Place” at the Kvartira S Gallery (Moscow, ARTPLAY).
The works of the young Russian artist Katerina Goryacheva reveal a fragile yet richly charged inner cosmos, where landscape becomes not a genre but a mode of thought. Her works are less images than states captured in the material substance of painting: tension, repose, anxiety, anticipation, dream.
