In October the team of Gallery Kvartira S, together with the artist Olga Mashkina, set off for the south of France, to the town of Sanary-sur-Mer, to hold a series of plein air sessions and master classes there and to organise a joint Russian–French exhibition at the hotel "La Farandole".
Over three weeks in picturesque Provence, Olga Mashkina painted the azure sea, fruitful vineyards and the narrow lanes of cosy little towns, so that from 26 to 29 October she could present her works in the exhibition "Autumn in Provence". Alongside Olga, the French artist Marie Klimoff also showed her paintings.
On 29 October at 19.00 the ceremonial part of the project took place — the vernissage, attended by a guest of honour who presented her works: the artist-decorator Geneviève Canto, a pupil of Salvador Dalí.
The evening programme included musical performances and champagne.
About the exhibition participants
Olga Mashkina. Born in the city of Kursk. Graduated from the Art Faculty of Kursk State University, specialising in Graphic Design. Practised etching. Worked as a computer game designer in Saint Petersburg and as a graphic designer in Moscow. Graduated from the British Higher School of Art and Design, Visual Communications. Since 2012 she has worked as an illustrator and designer at the branding agency "Ostrov Svobody" (Island of Freedom). She has taken part in exhibitions of young artists at the Central House of Artists (Moscow).
Olga Mashkina is one of the first artists of Gallery Kvartira S. Her works can be seen in all of the gallery’s collective projects. Olga’s life-affirming, vivid, expressive style has already become recognisable and is much loved by many visitors to Kvartira S vernissages.
The artist travels a great deal and is able to convey, with precision and at the same time with soul, in her own manner, the beauty of ordinary places and the uniqueness of everyday moments (remember her "Georgia" series? You can read and look here:). In October she was to run a true plein air "marathon" in the south of France. And on 29 October her works formed the core of the exhibition "Autumn in Provence" and were presented at the Gallery Kvartira S show at the hotel "La Farandole".

Marie Klimoff is a French artist. She studied fine art in Grenoble and La Seyne-sur-Mer (the studio of Dolfy Mabilie) and is a student of the Academy of Arts under the guidance of Geneviève Canto in Bandol. She takes part in the annual exhibitions of the Academy of Arts in Bandol.
Interestingly, Madame Klimoff graduated from the Institute of Political Studies and for many years worked at the Prefecture of the Var department in the south of France. Yet all her life Marie dreamed of pursuing art. She studied drawing, painting, graphic art, pottery and even architecture. And in 2010 Marie retired and became a student at the Academy of Arts. For six years now, several times a week, she has been painting under the attentive guidance of Geneviève Canto, a pupil of Salvador Dalí.
Marie Klimoff experiments with different techniques, yet all her works are about the wonderful things she sees around her day after day: the azure sea, fishing boats and the sunlit streets of Provence.
