In spring, the Artplay Design Center presented the artist’s exhibition “Debut.”
Katya Brojez (Katya Brokhes), Ekaterina Goncharenko, is a Russian artist and designer.
Katya had been interested in art since childhood. After graduating from MGIMO University, she radically changed her professional field and, from 2005 onward, worked as an art director at the Russian office of the British design consultancy Minale Tattersfield (one of the world’s top ten design agencies). In 2009, Katya began studying painting, graphic art, and sculpture under such masters and members of the Moscow Union of Artists as Ekaterina Dronova, Vladimir Serzhantov-Schultz, and Olga Karelits. This led her to develop a distinctive style of her own.

Katya’s artistic development was significantly influenced by the work of British masters of botanical painting and drawing, such as Marianne North and others. Katya Brojez (the pseudonym Brokhes comes from her grandmother’s surname) works in botanical art—a genre uncommon in Russian painting and graphic art, yet popular in Europe and the United States—as well as in the landscape and still-life traditions characteristic of Russian art. Her works are held in private collections in Russia, the United Kingdom, the United States, and Israel.
