Alexey Lokhov (Ta’lant). Member of the Union of Artists of Russia. Participant in Russian and international exhibitions. Has been working professionally in photography since 1987. Has traveled halfway around the world, shooting on expeditions to the North Pole and Franz Josef Land, in the tropics of Ceylon and on the beaches of Copacabana. Into every frame the artist invests a particle of his individuality. Alexey works in the genres of conceptual still life and photo installations. In recent years he has been actively combining classical photography with various techniques of painting, graphic art, and applied arts.

The complex, multi-layered works in the églomisé technique by photo artist Alexey Lokhov are an imaginary world created within the frame — a Looking-Glass realm. The author offers the viewer a chance to break through documentary-journalistic perception and see the world with their own eyes.
«This exhibition is the culmination of many years of experiments combining photography with the applied technique of églomisé*. The outcome of creative exploration is often unpredictable, since it rests on the physical and chemical processes of solutions interacting with the thinnest sheets of gold and silver foil. That is why the works become unique — they cannot be repeated».

*Églomisé is a technique of applying gold-foil decoration to glass. It was known already in the Antique and Medieval worlds. It received its name, however, in the second half of the eighteenth century from the surname of the French engraver Jean-Baptiste Glomy.
