Kvartira S Gallery announces an Open Call for participation in the group exhibition
«FEEDBACK»,
which will take place in the exhibition halls of the ARTPLAY Design Center
(Moscow, Kurskaya metro, N. Syromyatnicheskaya 10) from January 5 to January 31, 2026.
Applications are accepted until December 19, 2025 at opencall@kvartiras.com.
The number of participants is limited.
At the beginning of the new year, Kvartira S Gallery will open the exhibition “Feedback,” exploring how art shapes and sustains communication—with the audience, its context, time, and the self. The project focuses on a simple yet fundamental fact of artistic practice: no artist creates in a vacuum. Every work has an addressee—however implicit—and exists in anticipation of a response: a gaze, an interpretation, a reaction, and sometimes disagreement. In some cases, this response becomes not a consequence of the work, but its very purpose.
The exhibition will bring together artists for whom interaction with the viewer is not a secondary function, but an integral part of their artistic method.
We invite artists and collectives to submit:
Works as forms of address: pieces addressed directly to the viewer; works that “speak” to the audience, pose questions, and leave room for a response; works in which the viewer becomes a co-author—through action, commentary, or participation.
Works altered in response to reactions: projects transformed in response to comments, interaction, or audience expectations.
Works in dialogue with other artists: pieces created as responses, remakes, or interpretations of works by others; collaborations in which the exchange of ideas and forms takes center stage; visual “quotations,” responses, and rejoinders within an artistic correspondence.
Self-reflexive works: pieces in which artists examine their own dependence on response; works about the experience of receiving—or not receiving—feedback; works exploring silence and misunderstanding as distinct forms of communication.
“Feedback” approaches art as a system of exchange—not a monologue, but an encounter. It is through this encounter that a work comes alive, becoming a point of connection between people, experiences, and meanings. The exhibition will invite viewers to witness how this dialogue emerges, how it transforms the work, and how the work itself becomes an impetus for new connections.
Applications sent to opencall@kvartiras.com must include:
- a CV (the artist’s portfolio in any format and a brief biography in Word, submitted as separate files);
- high-quality photographs of 1–3 completed works, specifying their dimensions, materials, year of creation, and price (please note that only works priced at no more than 150,000 rubles will be considered);
- a photograph of the artist in JPEG format;
- a description of the proposed works (please explain how each work engages with the exhibition’s stated theme).
We accept painting, framed works on paper (in a slim light-colored or black frame), photography, installations, collages, large-scale sculpture, and mixed media—from 1 to 3 works per artist. The selection will be made by the curators and the gallery team. All works in the exhibition will be available for purchase.
Please note! Participation requires an organizational fee:
6,000 rubles for gallery residents and 10,000 rubles for other participants.
The organizational fee covers exhibition installation, the printing of promotional materials, public relations, announcements in the media and on social networks, the opening reception, and a digital catalogue of works. The fee is payable after the works have been selected and the exhibition participation agreement has been signed. The fee is fixed and does not depend on the number of works included.
An agreement will be concluded with each participant.
