Kvartira S Gallery, together with the ARTPLAY Design Center, presents a solo exhibition by Artem Kasimov, “Return Yourself to Yourself”.
Artem Kasimov’s pictorial practice does not aim to imitate or depict visually perceived reality. Yet upon close looking, the non-objective painting resolves into words, which constitute a graphic-typographic composition of short poems created by the artist. The typeface is an original handwritten script that became the foundation of all of Artem’s works.
“Creating visual compositions from text is my way of creative self-expression. Essential meanings become visual messages that speak directly to the viewer’s unconscious, settling in the heart and transforming the soul,” - Artem Kasimov.
“Artem is an outstanding example of the symbiosis of artist and designer. Expressing himself creatively through painterly calligraphy, he constructs on the canvas a composition that presents the meanings invested by the artist in their clearest and most vivid form. He discards everything superfluous, leaving only what is necessary for the perception of the essential “message”; in his works, everything is subordinate to this central idea.” - Sasha Richard.
Artem Kasimov is a professional artist, a graduate of the Shadr Art School and a member of the Creative Union of Artists of Russia. He has participated in Russian and international exhibitions since 1995. He lives and works in Yekaterinburg. Artem’s paintings are held in private collections around the world.
