The artists of the exhibition “Coordinates of Harmony” — Elena Lyapina and Iskan Ilyazov — focus on an inquiry into inner states and the ways of expressing them. On the one hand, each painting seems a symbol and a trace of the experience lived by the artist; on the other, a point of departure for new associations and inner journeys among viewers. The artists explore the relationships of color fields and lines, finding the most precise compositional correspondences of expression and intensity.

In the process of working, the artists are driven both by the energy of the spontaneous gesture and by the impulsiveness of their own character, overlaid upon a unique, innate sense of color and composition. The exhibition will present abstract works in the field of creative experiments in finding the relationships of the mass of objects, background, line, and
color field.
“Abstract art speaks allegorically — in the language of symbols, signs, colors, and forms, in which each person may find a hidden meaning visible only to them. A dialogue with abstract art is an individual journey inward, self-knowledge, inspiration, questions whose answers are worth seeking within oneself. The emotional, vivid, sunlit geometric abstractions of Iskan Ilyazov resonate with the meditative, intricate, poetic works of Elena Lyapina in the search for an inner cosmos and harmony. Each artist has a distinctive style, a voice of their own, yet sounding together they form a brilliant creative duo.” — exhibition curator Vera Timoshenko.

The exhibition “Coordinates of Harmony” presents works by Elena Lyapina from various series: “Kvadratiki,” “Flowers&Others,” “Ecstatic Layers.” These series have already been shown at solo and group exhibitions in Moscow, Saint Petersburg, and Istanbul. What unites the works is a spontaneous manner of working and a striving to express the inner states of the human being.
The artist Iskan Ilyazov will present paintings from different periods of his creative path. Yet all of them are united by sunniness, by the anticipation of spring as an awakening, a rebirth of life. This is a reminder of the Eternal, of the Cosmos, of other worlds, of the meaning of our incarnation here and now, of past and future, of aims and dreams. Iskan’s abstractions invite the viewer to look not only into his inner world, but into the boundlessness of the Universe, to set out on a spiritual journey — into other worlds as well as into different times, into different incarnations of the viewer themselves.
The exhibition welcomes a broad audience of visitors with a genuine passion for art, from serious collectors to those acquiring their first original work. You will be able to trace the parallels in the artists’ vision and, together with them, reflect upon the coordinates of harmony.
About the participants:
Elena Lyapina
Born in Moscow.
Member of the Union of Abstract Artists of Russia. Graduated from the Russian State University for the Humanities, Faculty of Art History, Art and Design Department. She continually develops series of paintings, graphic works, and photographs. She is the author of such graphic and painting series as “fragment iznanki,” “kvadratiki,” “flowers & others,” “north,” “think pink,” and others. She is one of the three creators of the “Women’s Voice” project, in which each participant illustrates her own poetry.
The focus of the artist’s creative inquiry is consciousness and the very source of the creative process. She feels an affinity with the approach of ancient Chinese painters, for whom meditation, the artist’s creative state, and the energy of the brush’s physical contact with paper form the starting point for a work of art. Thus, the very mode of interacting with materials becomes alive, fluid, and generative. The artist seeks to convey facets of the infinite space of spiritual reality, inviting viewers to engage in self-exploration and self-discovery. Her paintings and graphic works are held in private collections in Russia, Uzbekistan, India, Turkey, the Netherlands, Germany, Italy, Canada, and the United States.
