The Interweavings project comprises works by contemporary artist Ekaterina Kolesnikova, executed in her distinctive signature style and united by the profound theme of a harmonious interplay of opposites.

Ekaterina Kolesnikova: “Complex "interweavings" of past and present, the living and the artificial, self-sacrifice and absorption, the subtle unconscious and that which frankly thirsts for life, constantly unfolding in the surrounding world and in the human mind.”

Decorative compositions incorporating urban landscape and floral motifs form the principal narrative thread of Ekaterina’s works. Executed in the artistic technique of tempera, they are distinguished by a deep matte surface. The absence of paint texture allows the artist to render the finest details with care, ensuring exceptional clarity of line and a seamless transition from brighter tones to more muted ones.

Canvases of distinctive shape, colors muted to retro tones, and lyrical subjects with enlarged details — these are the hallmarks of Ekaterina’s paintings. They make it easy to place these works of art in interiors of any style and purpose.

“Ekaterina Kolesnikova’s solo exhibition presents different stages of the artist’s practice. Works executed in various techniques, yet in a recognizable signature style, are united by a love of artistic exploration and graphic line. At the same time, they are all filled with bright sunlit colors and charged with a summer mood,” — exhibition curator Sasha Richard.
