From 13 to 31 March, the Kvartira S gallery at Artplay presents Andrei Shatilov's exhibition "Ot Dushi".
Andrei Shatilov's painting may be compared to a freeze-frame from a short film. The artist watches the life of the contemporary city with close attention and turns familiar scenes of everyday existence into multilayered visual stories, where reality meets irony, anxiety, and a light touch of the absurd. The protagonists of his works are people of our time. They hurry, they work, they strive for well-being, they come up against circumstances, they long for their native places, they seek love and try to keep their balance in a constantly changing world. In these narratives the comic often stands beside the melancholy, and the everyday takes on an almost theatrical expressiveness.
A distinctive feature of Andrei Shatilov's artistic language is his attention to detail: familiar objects, the gestures of his figures, and fragments of the urban environment become essential elements of the narrative. Recognizing them, the viewer gradually enters the space of the painting and begins to read its hidden meanings. The exhibition brings together landmark works of recent years and the artist's new paintings. Together they form a multilayered portrait of contemporary life - dynamic, contradictory, and remarkably "human".
