The exhibition “Changing Seasons” opens a series of works by Vera Kulikova devoted to moments and points of reference through which we register the passage of time and the transition from one season of life to another. Drawing on narrative complexity concealed within vibrant fields of color and an expressive visual language, the artist always leaves room for viewers to interpret and imagine freely.

Vera Kulikova’s works are like flashes of memory, in which narrative threads, color palette, and composition heighten the warmth of personal experience and our perception of the world around us.

In her art, Vera Kulikova touches upon the subtlest realms of the soul, leading viewers into a space of the most intimate experiences and sensations—those that words cannot convey. Her painting is vivid, bold, and delicate all at once. The artist’s principal medium is color, through which she tells stories of exploring the self and the world.

“Our life is a kaleidoscope of events, feelings, emotions, places, and people. All of this fills us every day. Some things remain in our memory forever; others disappear. Each of my works is filled with such memories. The exhibition ‘Changing Seasons’ presents both new and earlier works. Through my work, I seek to preserve my own fleeting sensations: the scent of lilacs in May, the creak of an old barn door, the radiance of snow, a frosty February dawn, the dampness of fresh grass beneath bare feet, or the fine mist of sea spray touching the skin. For most people, the changing of the seasons is associated with turning a page of the calendar. An artist can allow herself to change the seasons whenever and however she wishes. In winter, I often feel drawn to painting warmer, more luscious works imbued with the spirit of summer and spring. I could not answer the question, ‘Which season do I like best?’—for each of them holds something special, beautiful, and important for me.” — Vera Kulikova.

About the Artist:

She began her professional artistic career in 1999.

In 2005, she graduated from the Textile University. After graduation, she began working in interior design while also completing the Advanced Design Courses at the Moscow Architectural Institute in 2007.

In 2014, she moved to the United States with her family for several years. The move had a profound impact on her art, which she has since come to see as a harmonious extension of herself. Through her artistic practice, Vera Kulikova finds a balance between herself and the world around her, her home and her family.

Since 2018, she has actively participated in exhibitions. Vera Kulikova’s works are held in private collections in Russia, the United States, and across Europe.
