Do walls confine an artist, or do they, on the contrary, create space for an idea to unfold?
About the participants:
Alesya FO_OBJECTS
A contemporary artist from St Petersburg, she began her creative journey as a teenager, producing illustrations for a local newspaper. She studied at the E. N. Ivanov Art Studio, where she learned the fundamentals of painting, graphic art, and composition; was selected by the Union of Artists of Russia for the Novoe Vremya competition; and took part in an art residency in Solnechnogorsk. Her art offers a distinctive perspective on the urban landscape: everything in her paintings is vivid and sharply contrasted, making them the antithesis of the grey, crowded city. They do not call for merriment, but they compel us to stay alert. For Alesya, who works under a pseudonym, an atmosphere of safety is essential. “The world I depict is filled with flowing lines, soft shapes, and amorphous clouds. Of the techniques I work with, acrylic is the one I use most often, but paper collage holds a special place in my practice.”
DMITRIY DASTEO
A multidisciplinary artist who lives and works in Moscow. Dmitriy works across a range of media, including painting, graphic art, graffiti, and street art. In his work, he explores colour, figurative and abstract approaches, and combinations of all these elements in varying proportions. “The only constants should be
experimentation and practice,” the artist says. He is interested in both the graphic and emotional dimensions of the painting process, particularly when creating abstract works. In his practice, Dmitriy seeks to create compelling new combinations of colours and forms and to convey his message to the viewer, often through a distinctive visual language.
