“L’Homme et L’Espace”

In Photographs

From April 26 to May 6, the town of Sanary-sur-Mer (France) hosted a Russian–French project devoted to space, "Man and Space: Art, Science, Culture". The centerpiece of the project was an exhibition of paintings by Russian and French artists titled "Journey into Space". Works for the project were contributed by French artists and astronomers Pierre Kuntz and Marie-Jo Parron, and by Russian artists Denis Petrulenkov, Anton Totibadze, and the great-granddaughter of the Nobel laureate in literature Sasha Pasternak. Also on view were Patrice Garcia’s sketches for the films "The Fifth Element" and "Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets". On the town’s main square was installed an exhibition of photographs taken from space by Russian cosmonauts Oleg Kotov and Sergey Ryazansky. On May 3, a conference with Russian and French cosmonauts took place at the town médiatheque. On May 4, the hotel La Farandole hosted a gala evening of the international project "Man and Space: Art, Science, Culture". The culmination of the celebration was a live link with the ISS. Guests’ conversation with Russian cosmonaut Oleg Artemyev was arranged by the Public Communications Center of the State Corporation ROSCOSMOS.
